Chelsea scaffolders

Careful scaffolding for Chelsea’s period buildings

Much of Chelsea is made up of Georgian and Victorian townhouses, stucco terraces, garden squares and red-brick mansion blocks, and a large share of it is listed or in conservation areas. Scaffolding here has to be neat, secure and well protected: tall elevations, delicate stucco and ironwork, narrow pavements, and neighbours close on every side.

We scaffold homes in Chelsea for redecoration, stucco and roof repairs, mansard extensions and refurbishment, and commercial buildings on the King’s Road and around Sloane Square. Chelsea is a straight run from our yard along the M4, and our London projects include netted scaffolds across several blocks of flats in Kings Cross, with the entrances kept clear beneath.

  • Listed buildings

Scaffolds planned around stucco, ironwork and old fabric.

  • Mansion blocks

Full-height, netted scaffolds with entrances kept clear.

  • Redecoration

Access for painting and stucco repairs on tall elevations.

  • Secure out of hours

Scaffolds can be alarmed where upstairs windows are reached.

Scaffolding in Chelsea: your questions

Straight answers to the things people ask before booking scaffolding. Anything else, just call 0800 2086 905 or 07831 197615.

Ask a question

Do you work in Chelsea?

Yes. We take on domestic and commercial work across Chelsea, from the King’s Road and Sloane Square to Cheyne Walk and World’s End. It is a straight run along the M4 from our yard.

Who issues scaffold licences in Chelsea?

The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, for scaffolds on its roads and pavements. On red routes, Transport for London issues the licence instead. With narrow pavements across much of Chelsea, many front scaffolds need one, and we will tell you at the survey.

My house is listed. Can you scaffold it?

Yes. Before any ties go into the historic fabric, check with the Royal Borough’s planning and conservation team, and we can share the tie layout with them before work starts. Ties and fixings are placed to limit the effect on stucco and old masonry, and the approach is set out in the method statement.

Can you scaffold a mansion block?

Yes. Mansion blocks need full-height scaffolds, netted throughout, with the entrances kept clear on lattice beams, like the blocks of flats we scaffolded in Kings Cross for new windows. We supply the design, risk assessment and method statement for the managing agent or contractor.

Can the scaffold be secured when nobody is working?

Yes. Scaffolds can be alarmed, as ours was on a town-centre office block in Maidenhead, so they cannot be used to reach windows or roofs out of hours.
