Expert birdcage installation
Safe access across the whole floor area
Birdcage scaffolding, often called multi-level scaffolding, is a versatile system that covers large floor areas and supports several workers at once. It gives a safe, level working platform directly beneath ceilings and roof structures, making it ideal for internal refurbishments, ceiling repairs, decoration and M&E installations. We design each birdcage around the space, including irregular room shapes, stepped levels and obstacles, so every trade has stable access at the height they need.

Ask a questionWhat is a birdcage scaffold?
A birdcage is a free-standing scaffold built as a grid of uprights across a floor area, with a fully boarded working platform at the top. It gives level access to a whole ceiling or roof structure at once.
Does it need a bespoke design?
Simpler birdcages can follow standard TG20:21 arrangements, while larger, taller or more heavily loaded ones need a bespoke design. We will advise at the survey and arrange the design where it is needed.
Can a birdcage work around obstacles?
Yes. We design birdcages to suit irregular room shapes, stepped levels and obstacles, so you get safe access across the whole space.
Can several trades use it at once?
Yes. A birdcage gives a large, stable platform so several trades can work safely at the same time, which helps keep the project moving.
Will the floor take the load?
We check the floor at the survey and spread the load with base plates and sole boards where needed. If there is any doubt about the floor, we will recommend having it checked by an engineer.
