Winchester scaffolders
Winchester was once the capital of Wessex, and its centre is full of history: the cathedral, the college, the Great Hall, and streets of medieval, Georgian and Victorian buildings, a large number of them listed and much of the centre within a conservation area. Scaffolding here has to protect historic stone, brick and timber, fit narrow streets, and keep pavements open for the people using them.
Winchester is a run down the A34 from our yard in Tidmarsh, so we plan surveys, deliveries and inspections around your programme. Our heritage work includes repointing a church tower in Newbury and refurbishment access for an Oxford college, and English Heritage is among the clients we have carried out work for. We scaffold homes, shops and commercial buildings across the city too.

Hampshire County Council, which is the highway authority for the city. Any scaffold on a pavement or road needs its licence before it goes up. Scaffolding kept entirely on private land does not need one, and our survey will show whether yours does.
Yes. Before any ties are fixed into historic fabric, check with Winchester City Council’s planning team, and we will gladly share the planned tie positions with them first. Scaffolds for historic buildings are planned around the building’s shape, as on our church tower in Newbury.
Yes. English Heritage, Eton College and an Oxford college are among the clients we have carried out work for, and our heritage projects include repointing a church tower in Newbury.
In most cases, yes. We set the first lift above the shopfront or carry the scaffold over it on lattice beams, keep the pavement open underneath, and net the lifts above to contain dust and materials.
