Oxford scaffolders
Oxford is up the A34 from our yard in Tidmarsh, and it is a city where scaffolding needs extra care. A large part of the centre is listed or within a conservation area, the streets are narrow and busy with cyclists and pedestrians, and many buildings are old, tall and irregular, with steep roofs, dormers and chimney stacks.
An Oxford college is among the clients we have carried out work for. For its refurbishment, we scaffolded several wings of red-brick college buildings to their full height, up to the gables and with a platform at every chimney stack, and kept the skip, welfare unit and materials in a fenced compound on the lawn. Beyond the colleges, we scaffold homes across the city, from the Victorian houses of North Oxford and Jericho to Headington, Cowley and Botley, as well as shops, offices and new builds.
Refurbishment access across several wings of a college.
Heritage scaffolding planned around listed buildings.
Platforms built so each stack can be reached safely.
Oxford is a straightforward run north from our yard.

Ask a questionYes. Oxford is a straightforward run up the A34 from our yard in Tidmarsh, and we cover the whole city and the towns and villages around it. An Oxford college is among the clients we have carried out work for.
Oxfordshire County Council, which is the highway authority for the city as well as the rest of the county. A licence is needed if any part of the scaffold stands on a pavement or road. Scaffolding kept entirely on private land, or within a college’s own grounds, does not need one. We will check at the survey whether your site does.
Yes. Much of central Oxford is listed or within a conservation area. Before any ties go into historic stone or brickwork, check with Oxford City Council’s planning team, and we are happy to share the proposed tie arrangement with them in advance. Our college project involved full-height scaffolding to the gables and every chimney stack.
Yes. An Oxford college, Eton College and Shiplake College are among our clients. Scaffolding on an education site has to fit around students, staff and visitors, so we plan safe routes past the scaffold, secure it when the site is unattended, and keep compounds fenced off, as we did on the lawn at the Oxford college.
We plan deliveries and the scaffold’s footprint at the survey, including whether it needs a licence and whether it should bridge the pavement to keep it open. Lattice beams can carry a scaffold over a pavement or an entrance so people can still pass underneath.
Everything we do: heritage scaffolding for historic buildings, domestic scaffolding for roofs, chimneys and extensions, commercial and new-build scaffolding, temporary roofs, and internal and birdcage scaffolds. We also supply designs, method statements and inspections.
